Mar 07, 2016 On my most recent project using 1" piping, I was stuck on the job site with these parts and had to finish without any access to alternate supply on the piping. I wound up using an orbital sander to sand down the ends of the pipes (there were about 30 ends to sand off). I have had similar persistent trouble with 1/2" and 3/4" piping from Home Depot.

Jun 08, 2021 Making sure that the pipe and fittings are clean is probably one of the most important things to do before you begin soldering copper pipe. A good sandpaper cloth is necessary to clean the outside of the copper pipe. Sand both ends of the pipe to about 1/2 inch beyond the fitting.
