Dec 12, 2012 hello all, I'm new here and had a quick question, i was thinking about melting my copper wire into bars for scrap but after researching, is it really worth it? i had thought that the yard would give you #1 price for bars and since i have a lot of #2 copper that would be good for me but now i don't know if it's worth the time.

Do not melt stuff into ingots just to sell them to your scrap yard. Waste of resources. If you do decide to melt ur cans, sell them on eBay / Etsy/ etc. people buy the ingots to use for art, to collect if your bar is unique looking, etc. if I remember correctly, cans are bad for melting.
