Dec 12, 2020 MIG welding aluminum tubing. I am wanting to MIG weld a camper frame out of 6063 aluminum tubing (11, 1.51.5, 1.52, and 24.5). The tubing would be 1/8 wall thickness. I was planning on using a Lincoln 180 Easy MIG with a spool gun and 100% argon gas; Im still working out what filler wire I need.
May 14, 2020 Today I was welding some thin wall tubing, .075 counting rust inside and paint outside, to a 3/16 base. I tried my new 3/32 6013 Lincoln rods. I could get a nice looking weld for less than an inch before blowing through at 70A. At 65A I couldnt keep slag out of the way and was getting inclusion. I tried both polarities.
