Nov 07, 2011 So about a month ago both oil cooler lines began to leak where the Aluminum is crimped over the rubber line. The Oil would squeeze out quickly at start up and slowly diminish to a slow drip by the time the engine got to temperature. As you can imagine I was pissed as these were brand new lines purchased and installed 11 months ago.

Mar 31, 2009 One of my oil cooler lines just started leaking. Its leaking on the aluminum part, where it bends to clear the differential housing. I lost about 2 quarts just getting it the 10 miles back home. The lines are practically new. The previous owner paid the dealer to replace them in December.
Mar 30, 2014 The key to these is prep. Being an oil cooler, I would remove it, drain it thoroughly, and then swish some solvent through the cooler to remove any oil residue. On the outside I would get surgical clean. Use a stainless steel brush and get down to CLEAN and BARE aluminum. All the finish and everything else must be removed or the repair will leak.
Aug 20, 2008 The critical key to this mod working is getting the aluminum lines 100% surgically clean, if they arent clean, they arent going to seal properly, and it will leak. *Jeff* 1998 4dr 2wd Blazer, 06 L33 5.3L, LS6 cam, 3.73s, built trans, etc..

Aug 14, 2008 Id jump at every chance I could get to keep temperatures of every component in the engine bay cooler, oil, trans fluid, coolant, etc.. Adam, I triple clamped my power steering lines with bifurcated slag-aluminum double hump cardigan clamps. I think the electrical tape is what kept them from leaking.. (not seriously)

Feb 16, 2005 These tend to leak when the aluminum crimp relaxes and the hose deteriorates underneath. I took a new set of lines and had the aluminum crimps cut off, and new hose with steel crimps done and they worked excellent. Now DSG has just released their new oil cooler and line kit eliminatin a lot of the BS associated with these systems.

Dec 23, 2019 Yes, its common for the oil and transmission cooler lines to leak at those crimps. Some people replace them with oem or 3rd party lines, that typically are crimped the same way, and eventually fail the same way, others will take the old lines to a hydraulic shop, and the shop will crimp hydraulic hose onto the lines using a better connector, and those will typically not fail (well, I havent ...

Aug 30, 2021 Jan 20, 2015 Amazing. I have replaced the filter body gasket and the oil cooler gasket before, and theyre not leaking now. But the cooler hose is saturated with oil as well as the o-ring union. I was on the highway this a.m. for 2+ hours at 70-85 mph, so oil is everywhere. I cannot see a definitive drip anywhere, but the wettest area is the o-ring area and ...
Jul 20, 2013 Jul 21, 2013 (the oil filter end does use a pipe thread adapter to connect to the hose though). I have removed the lines and plugged them, and a friend took his lines and cut the aluminum lines back enough to put on compression fittings and use hydraulic line. Those aluminum lines are TERRIBLE, and will only leak again in the near future at the crimps.
Jan 15, 2013 Mar 07, 2013 So after doing a bit of research Im pretty sure the leak is coming from the engine oil cooler line, Im not exactly sure from which part though. When the Ms on the oil slowly drips out. From the looks of it, I think its from where the rubber hose is crimped on to the (aluminum?) tube.
Apr 05, 2018 This a picture of a leaking 2015-16 leaking oil cooler line near bottom of radiator. Cant see it unless a bottom plastic panel is removed I guess. And - - - it appears to have 3 crimps on the interconnect from metal to rubber.

Jan 02, 2008 that has developed a leak around the upper oil cooler line fitting where it enters the radiator on the drivers side. A mechanic replaced the fitting and line claiming the the line had a pinhole in it but it is still leaking. Is there a washer or something that may need
Apr 16, 2020 The issue started when I could not easily remove the threaded hex nut line . The other 3 lines came off easily. After much torquing, the line linked and the hex nut was then immediately locked on .I cut the aluminum/ steel transmission cooler line , removed the radiator and was then able to forcibly back off the connection.
Aug 18, 2012 2003 330i 4door. Line 4 or 5 (part hose, part metal that goes all the way back) is leaking coolant in the cracked portion of the rubber hose. I am not 100% sure what coolant is doing there in the first place to be honest. Is it a bad oil cooler? Ive heard others say that in auto transmission e46s that those lines carry coolant and its normal.
The female part of the oil cooler could be nylon or just aluminum and I may have created a crack in this 2000 9-5 wagon 2.3 T oil cooler when spending 4 hours just getting these 17 years in NH oil pipes out. Jun 14, 2012 543 Posts. #2 May 6, 2010. I had an oil leak from the same area not long ago and the dealers initial prognosis was to replace the oil cooler. However, a week at home in the garage proved that wasnt the issue so they replaced the hoses on the 2nd visit and that appears to have fixed the issue. Apparently the hoses are $350 parts.
Dec 08, 2019 Oil Cooler Line Leak / 2017 Harley Davidson is a quick video to tell and illustrate the problem I am having with my oil cooler line.
May 27, 2012 I did something similar to you 03Yukon, used hydraulic hose with compression fittings on my 6.0 over 4 years ago. Replaced the two feed and return lines as well as the one from the rad to the cooler. 4 years later, not a single hit of a leak or anything. Did it all with the lines on the truck. Way easier and cheaper than replacing the whole line.
May 03, 2016 The upper oil cooler line connector at the radiator has been leaking very slightly for a while, I need to replace it, and cant find the correct fitting at any of the parts stores. Truck is an HD 2500, 6.0, 4x4, crew cab. 247,000 miles. The parts stores all come up with 2 part numbers, if I recall correctly they were Dorman P/N 800-607 800-622.
Jul 14, 2020 When I put her away, I noticed oil just below the drivers side engine panel, on the frame. Upon removing it, I found what looks like a leak on one of the FOUR coolers stacked in front of the engine. I was able to pull the part and model number off the cooler, and have a message in with my local dealer (Mountain Farm Intl in Crossville, TN).
Mar 20, 2018 1. Leaking Oil. Leaking oil is never a good sign. Most oil leaks stem from bad connections or cracked oil pans, engine gaskets or seals. Another place to look is the oil cooler adapter, which connects oil lines and is itself sealed with a gasket. When the problem is a bad oil cooler, oil will puddle on the ground.
