Obviously SCJ and CJ are the best, but what about DOVE, D1VE, etc. (These seem to be more plentiful and cheaper for my low buck performance engine.) I realize that some/or alot of porting will be necessary for good street/strip performance.

Mar 28, 2005 The best stock (OEM) 429/460 heads are the CJ (or SCJ) heads that have casting number DOOE-. Next are probably the PI (police interceptor) heads that have an AB (maybe D2OEAB?) in the casting numbers. They are similar to CJ's, but with bigger combustion chambers (lower compression). Next are probably the Dove C's.

We are working on a 4 cylinder engine that uses a 460 type head and we chose the SCJ because of the cubic inches (243) and the camshaft limitations. I have had problems with my Shelby heads and helicoils. BT have the higher flow numbers over Edelbrock for all out racing. I think they are almost 400cfm or very close. Rick L.
