Sep 17, 2004 I originally used teflon tape, 4 wraps at least. When I left there were no leaks. HO calls and says it’s got a “pinhole” leak at the threaded joint where the chrome meets the CPVC fitting. I went back and undid the joint and used pipe dope instead which almost always works every time, just messier than teflon tape. Same problem, pinhole leak.
Oct 18, 2021 The Quickest Way to Patch a Pinhole Leak. If you suspect a small leak in a water supply line, it’s probably a pinhole leak. And yes, it’s an emergency. Jun 12, 2008 Great repair tip. In our previous house that had copper water lines I kept a 1/2″ and 3/4″ repair clamp on hand in case of an emergency leak. The things are easy to install and darn cheap. One of the leading causes of pin holes in copper pipes is left over flux inside the pipe. Over time that flux eats through the copper and creates a pin hole.

Nov 07, 2016 This will handle the leak for a short time—stopping the leaking—until the plumber has time to take care of a more permanent fix. The next type of pinhole fix is to slice open the pipe at the pinhole itself. The plumber places a pipe slicer over the section of the pipe, with the blade put into the leak. This cuts the pipe in half.
Tighten the clamp until contact is made with the wood blocks (or one wood block and pipe), then only about 1/4 or 1/2 turn further. Once the clamp is tightened, the leak should be sealed off. Turn the water on and check for leaks. If the 1/4 or 1/2 turn more doesn't stop the leak, you may need to reposition the patching material and try again.
