But: Aluminium tube is widely used in car air conditioning system, as car air conditioning system is located in a secure “housing”, which is inside the hood.It is cheaper, and lighter compared to copper. The possibility of water ingress and physical contact inside hood is quite low. Hence physical damage and possibility for oxidisation is low.

May 05, 2008 working on an old GE RTU that I did a compressor replacement on and the line going from the roto lock fitting into the evaporator coil broke loose. Was wondering if any one had any insite on repairing the copper line going to the aluminum coil. If it was just copper I could braze it but being copper to aluminum poses a tricky situation. Any help would be greatly appreciated. thanks in

Feb 13, 2002 The aluminum tube/aluminum fin condensing coil first came about in the 1970s. General Electric was in the hvac business at the time, and had built an air conditioning system that used an aluminum condensing coil. “GE was the only company that did that. All the other manufacturers used copper tube with aluminum fins bonded to it.
Apr 15, 2018 Copper tube and aluminum fin evaporator coils are at the beginning of the end as manufacturers continue to cut costs from their AC manufacturing processes. Feb 25, 2020 Aluminium as compared to copper, has a better ability to be bend into the shapes desired. Hence to make a coil of same size and shape, approximately three times more copper is required, making the process costlier. However, to bring down the cost of AC with copper coils, thinner and thinner copper coils are being made now days.

Sep 24, 2021 2001. A. Aluminum will be very susceptible to galvanic corrosion in contact with copper, assuming that the two metals are also in contact with a common electrolyte (such as water with some ionic content.) Almost any text or handbook on corrosion will have galvanic series table. The farther two metals or alloys are separated on the table, faster the corrosion of the less noble of the two will ...

Going on to a 3/4-inch copper tube results in a 3-second fall time. The issue of conductivity can be explored by testing tubes of different wall thickness. In this next experiment, the smallest copper tube was placed inside the aluminum tube and that pair inside the large copper tube.
c. copper tube-aluminum fin. In reciprocating and scroll type motor-compressor assemblies, the motor is cooled by ___. a. air over the shell of the assembly b. discharge gas from the compressor c. suction gas returning to the compressor d. liquid refrigerant by-passed from the liquid line.
Rigid metal pipe and tubing tend to be made of copper, steel, stainless steel or aluminum, but are not the same thing. Generally, tube is measured by the outside diameter while pipe is measured by the inside diameter, so pipe may appear thicker than tubing of the same measurement. For example, piece of one-inch pipe will seem to have a greater diameter than a piece of one-itch tubing.
Jan 27, 2021 That’s why the benefit is in terms of cost: while a 1/4 flexible copper tube roll with 5 meters costs on average between 50 and 65 euros, the aluminium tube roll with the same size can be purchased between 25 and 30 euros – a significant saving on pipes when using aluminium instead of copper.
Figure 2 shows pits in the copper tube surface and the contacting aluminum fin surfaces. In these cases the corrosion appears to be caused by a direct attack of the corroding agent on the copper in spite of the presence of the ‘more sacrificial’ aluminum. Hydrogen sulfide, carbon disulfide, and ammonia have been known for centuries to cause ...
Aluminum is a silver-colored, low density metal, used in a variety of commercial applications. Unalloyed Aluminum is ductile, exhibits moderate strength, and is very resistant to corrosion under most circumstances. Aluminum can be dramatically strengthened by the addition of appropriate alloying elements (Cu, Mg, Mn, Si, etc.) and subsequent heat/work treatments. It is commonly used in both ...
